mpsteil,

Thanks for venturing into the "new" forum, we appreciate your courage. Simply stunning kitchen.... a truly inspired effort! I'd love to know the story behind your kitchen - how did you choose layout, Lacanche, materials and canopy? What a perfect setting for dinner parties! Are you planning for a cooking school and where do I sign up? More details, s'il vous plaƮt!

Stan

Hi Stan,

I'm glad you like it! =)

The layout - We purchased a home with an extremely strange layout - the dining room was in a hallway (what??). This room was originaly the living room (hence the fireplace). It was the only logical place for a kitchen. I then basically designed the kitchen around the fireplace. I went to a builders show and found this really great reclaimed wood flooring - it's from a 150 year old Kentucky Tobacco barn. I knew I wanted something different for the range, not the standard stainless steel, so I looked at magaizine and searched online and came across a bunch of links for the Lacanche and REALLY fell in love. I read all the forums and chatted with a bunch of Lacanche owners and went for it. After that, the kitchen just started to piece together. My husband built the hood from random drawings I drew (combination of pictures I'd seen in mags I saw).

The kitchen cabinets were custom built by Segale Bros in Hayward, CA.
The countertop is Honed Marble.
Rohl fixtures, Shaw apron sink, fisher paykal dishwasher drawers, sub zero refrig and drawers. The butcher block was also custom built.

We love your choice of Sully and your flooring is particularly beautiful.

Can you give us the supplier? We live in LA and have been looking for just such a floor.

Was your experience with the supplier good?

thanks
